Shame is something that everybody is uncomfortable with and nobody wants to confront. In the book The Crucible, many people were accused of witchcraft which could have you killed. But people were more concerned with having their name blackened. Everybody wants to be portrayed as innocent and make sure their name is white in village. For example, Abigail Williams was first excused of being in the forest naked doing witchcraft and she was thought of being such an innocent girl. Her name was white in Salem village and she was ashamed of being talked about in a bad way and having her name blackened in the village. In the video it talked about how some people are ashamed of themselves and have trouble talking about their problems. It talked how this girl had told 500 people that she became a researcher to avoid vulnerability. It was hard for her to break out of her comfort. But owning up to it is something I think will make you feel better in the end. That is what John Procter did when he told court about his affair with Abigail to get them to see that she is not innocent. Shame is hard to confront but I believe people will feel better once they come clean about their self.
